Appointment Booking Terms & Conditions

Effective Date: August 2026
Last Reviewed: August 2026

These Appointment Booking Terms & Conditions apply whenever you book an appointment with Darling’s Pharmacy, whether online, by telephone or in person.

By booking an appointment, you agree to these terms.

1. About Us

Darling’s Pharmacy is the trading name of J M & W Darling Ltd, an independent community pharmacy providing NHS and private healthcare services across South Tyneside.

References to “we”, “our” and “us” in these Terms refer to J M & W Darling Ltd.

2. Booking an Appointment

Appointments may be booked:

  • Online.
  • By telephone.
  • In person at one of our pharmacies.
  • Through an approved booking partner.

When your booking has been successfully made, you will receive confirmation using the contact details you provided.

Please ensure your contact details are accurate and kept up to date.

3. NHS and Private Services

We provide both NHS and private healthcare services.

Eligibility requirements vary depending upon the service you have booked.

Booking an appointment does not guarantee that:

  • you are eligible for an NHS service;
  • treatment will be provided; or
  • medication will be supplied.

All consultations remain subject to an appropriate clinical assessment.

4. Clinical Assessment

Our pharmacists and clinicians will always make treatment decisions based upon:

  • your medical history;
  • current symptoms;
  • medicines you are taking;
  • national clinical guidance;
  • applicable Patient Group Directions (PGDs);
  • prescribing guidance (where applicable); and
  • their professional judgement.

Where treatment is not clinically appropriate, we will explain the reasons and discuss alternative options where possible.

5. Pre-Assessment Questionnaires

Some appointments require you to complete an online health questionnaire before attending.

These questionnaires help our clinical team prepare for your consultation and improve patient safety.

Failure to complete a required questionnaire may result in:

  • delays to your consultation;
  • your appointment being rearranged; or
  • your appointment taking longer than expected.

6. Attending Your Appointment

Please arrive on time for your appointment.

If you arrive late, we will make every reasonable effort to see you. However, depending on clinic availability, your appointment may need to be rearranged.

If you are unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible so your appointment can be offered to another patient.

7. Changes and Cancellations

Occasionally we may need to rearrange or cancel appointments due to circumstances beyond our control, including staff illness, emergencies or operational requirements.

Where possible, we will contact you as soon as reasonably practicable to arrange an alternative appointment.

8. Private Services

Some private services require payment.

Where payment is required, this will be made clear before your consultation.

9. Medication Supply

The supply of medicines is always subject to clinical assessment.

Booking an appointment does not guarantee that medication will be supplied.

Our clinicians may decide not to supply treatment where it is not considered safe, appropriate or clinically indicated.

10. Accuracy of Information

You are responsible for ensuring that the information you provide is accurate and complete.

Providing inaccurate, incomplete or misleading information may affect the advice or treatment we are able to provide.

11. Privacy

Your personal information will be processed in accordance with our Patient Privacy Notice.

We use secure healthcare systems and trusted service providers to support the delivery of our services.

Further information can be found in our Patient Privacy Notice available on our website.

12. Children and Young People

Some services are only available to patients who meet the minimum age requirements specified by NHS guidance, national clinical guidance or applicable clinical protocols.

Where appropriate, a parent, guardian or person with parental responsibility may be required to attend.

13. Behaviour Towards Staff

We are committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for patients, visitors and colleagues.

We will not tolerate abusive, threatening, discriminatory or violent behaviour towards our team.

We reserve the right to end a consultation or refuse future appointments where behaviour places our colleagues or other patients at risk.

Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights or access to emergency healthcare services.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Appointment Booking Terms & Conditions from time to time.

The latest version will always be available on our website.

15. Contact Us

If you have any questions about your appointment, please contact the pharmacy where your appointment is booked.
